In the Middle Ages, one of the most common Galician-Portuguese poetry productions were Cantigas de Amor (Love songs). King Alfonse XI of Castile wrote one of these compositions, and allegedly dedicated it to his mistress, Leonor of Guzmán. In this paper we will study the relationship amongst this king, his mistress and his Portuguese wife, Mary, focusing in his Cantiga “En un tiempo cogi flores”.
