Resumen:

Virtual Service-Learning (VSL) in the university context offers opportunities to train professionals committed to global challenges through real experiences that break the traditional gap between theory and practice. After an VSL experience in a virtual classroom of the Journalism degree, the research objectives were to determine to what extent the students considered that they had acquired the expected competencies and to assess their satisfaction with the project. An ex post facto study was designed, of an exploratory and descriptive character, using a self-assessment questionnaire of a quantitative nature. The results revealed that the instrument used was reliable, with consistent results in the variables analyzed. In addition, a high degree of satisfaction with the experience and its contribution to the development of specific and transversal competences was found. These findings coincide with the benefits of VSL that various studies highlight, predominating the scope of quality competency education, characterized by contributing to the formation of a responsible, supportive and critically aware citizenry.
