| dc.description.abstract | Based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a key understudied dimension is self as-context (the type of invariant perspective-taking that characterizes the observing self and reacting calmly to unwanted psychological experiences) and there is no Spanish version of Self as Context Scale (SACS, Zettle et al., 2028).
OBJETIVOS: The aim of this study was to test preliminary factor structure and psychometric properties of the Spanish version of SACS in a sample of parents of children.
METODOLOGÍA: 64 Parents of children with age between 0 to 6 years old completed a questionnaire. Age, gender, parent stressors, psychological flexibility, acceptance, personal values, and emotional outcomes (positive and negative affect, anxiety symptoms, perceived loneliness) were assessed. An exploratory factorial analysis, correlations and regression models, were conducted.
RESULTADOS: Two dimensions were obtained, Trascending and Centering which explain with a 65.76% of the variance of self as context. Reliability coefficients (Cronbach’s alpha) were.91 For transcending and.72 for centering dimensions, respectively. Significant associations were found between both centering and transcending dimensions and higher levels of psychological flexibility and self-compassion. While positive and significant associations were found between transcending and acceptance and importance of personal values, centering was positively associated with consistency with personal values and negatively associated with cognitive fusion. Results of regression analyses show that higher levels of centering dimension
significantly predict higher levels of negative affect (B=-.42; p <.05), Perceived loneliness (B=-.34; p <.05) and anxiety symptomatology (B=-.34; p <.05); while transcending significantly predict higher levels of positive affect (B=.40; p <.05) after controlling the rest of variables.
CONCLUSIÓN: Preliminary results suggest that the Spanish version of the Self-as Context Scale present a two-dimensional structure and has good psychometric properties. Self as context may play an important role to explain positive and negative emotional outcomes in parents, which has clinical implications. | es |
